CTDA Webinar: Floor Heating Systems

The next CTDA webinar is scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2018, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT on "Floor Heating Systems" with Earl Maicus with Schluter Systems.

This webinar will examine the advancement of radiant heated flooring and the growing trend for floor warming systems in residential construction and how it affects the tile and stone industry. Tile and stone, which have excellent heat conduction properties, are ideal materials for complementing a radiant heated floor. There are, however, certain variables, which, if not addressed, can cause failure in a tile or stone floor. Areas of discussion include the coefficient of expansion and contraction and its effects; the curing process of the thermal mass; the need for a thermal break; proper movement joint placement; and the advantages of an uncoupling system.

Earl Maicus is the Vice President of Commercial and Architectural Sales for Schluter® Systems North America and brings over 23 years of experience in the ceramic and stone tile industry. Earl joined Schluter Systems in 1995 as the company’s first US customer service representative, where he successfully launched its customer service department. After recognizing a need to support Interior Designers and Architects, Earl created a new department in 2000 to aid them in design, product selection and specification.

As an active member of the industry, Earl participates at international trade shows and industry events, and is the author of the Schluter® Systems L.P. Product Specification Guide. Schluter® Systems manufactures over 40 product lines designed to increase the longevity of ceramic and stone tile installations.
