"Why the move toward ‘product transparency’ for tile installation systems”

The next CTDA webinar is scheduled for Thursday, September 24 at 11:00 AM CST on “Why the move toward 'product transparency' for tile installation systems" with Cris Bierschank of MAPEI. Tile installation systems of today are not the same as a few years ago—with programs such as LEEDv4, Living Building Challenge and Delos WELL Building Standard have challenged both the building product manufacturer and the installer to re-think the entire tile installation layering system. This trend away from recycled content and regional manufacturing to product ‘transparency’ (reducing hazardous ingredients and minimizing pollution and waste) requires manufacturers to effectively communicate this data—programs such as Health Product Declarations (HPD), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) and GreenSquared Certified provide the means to communicate this information to the end-user.

As ‘transparency’ becomes the ‘new norm’ for doing business, it is important that manufacturer’s empower building owners, design professionals, contractors, installers and homeowners to make informed decisions about the products they select for their projects—based on performance and ingredient product transparency.

In this presentation we will discuss some of the programs listed below and how they impact a tile installation system.
 ‘Product Transparency’ Industry Initiatives:

  • GreenSquared ANSI 138.1
  • LEEDv4
  • Delos WELL
  • Declare Label and Red List Free with the Living Building Challenge (LBC )
  • EPD (Environmental Product Delcaration)
  • HPD (Health Product Declaration)
  • Craddle to Craddle
