Technical Breakout: Life Time Fitness: A Case Study of the Tile Installation

The recently completed Life Time Fitness facility in Chicago, Illinois is an example of a challenging but well executed tile project installed by Diverzify and tile installers from BAC Local 21. This project includes 75,000 square feet of tile in a newly constructed residential high-rise. There were over 50 types of tile on the project representing multiple sizes, applications, and setting methods.

This project will be presented in panel discussion format moderated by Scott Conwell of IMI. Panelists will be James Fulton, project superintendent with Diverzify, Jeff Pawelko field superintendent with the GC Power Construction, and a representative from Life Time Fitness (pending availability).

The panel will discuss some of the unique challenges of the project include the owner-supplied tile, the ambitious installation schedule, the coordination with other trades, the complex Myrtha swimming pool, the importance of warranties with the wet areas above occupied space, and the requirement for additional pool deck drains after construction had begun.
