Downtown Historic Tucson/Old Town Artisans
Tucson is a city with an exciting and colorful past - rich in Indian, Spanish, Mexican and Anglo culture, and is fortunate in having whole neighborhoods where this history has been preserved. The Barrio Viejo and Armory Park areas contain well preserved Sonoran, Mission Revival, and Victorian style buildings. Prior to arriving in the El Presidio Historic District, you will tour the Arizona Historical Society. This museum houses special exhibits recounting Arizona's colorful cultural history from Spanish colonial times through territorial years. The Society also houses the state's major Arizona history
research facility.
Old Town Artisans is located in the El Presidio Historic District and is adjacent to the Tucson Museum of Art. Old Town is a restored adobe structure (circa 1860), which displays unique, beautifully handcrafted works of art. Old Town offers an ever-changing collection of quality, handmade arts and fine crafts, pottery and clay art, and imports from Mexico, Central and South America.
